Game based physiotherapy for evidence based practice in children with juvenile idiopathic scoliosis

چکیده
Methods Software and interfaces of a 3D input device were used to detect and measure smallest movements within a game scenario. To maintain motivation three different games were used. The study group were 20 children between 9 and 13 years old, with the diagnosis JIS (Cobb curve of 23° +/4°, bracing with Chêneau-braces). The children exercised six months according to the Schroth concept; two standardized exercises of this concept were carried out guided by the computer program. Data was recorded for each patient regarding exercises time and scores, exercise fault rates, stability, and mobility scores and selfefficacy scores. Correlations were calculated between different variables. Results Considering the changes of faults over time, it can be seen that the variable date had a highly-significant negative influence on mistakes in the x, y and zdirection. (P-value: 0.004978)

Long-term results with Game-Based Physiotherapy (GBPT) according to Schroth in children with Juvenile Idiopathic Scoliosis (JIS)
Purpose The goal is to foster healing by offering motivating exercises combined with regular training aids. The available computer program provides valuable information on the exercise regime and can be used to monitor and evaluate treatment processes. Precise performance of exercises and exercise times are used more efficiently. Hypothesis: Patients who train with GBPT have, on average, a sign...

Therapeutic intervention with intra-articular steroid injections in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) has evolved from experience with adults with inflammatory joint disease, with the earliest report being published in 1951. The technique has subsequently been introduced into paediatric rheumatology practice, although much of the evidence supporting its use remains anecdotal or based on open,...

Stress level due to existing body deformity as well as to the treatment with a corrective brace is one of factors influencing the quality of life of children with idiopathic scoliosis undergoing non-surgical management. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the stress level among children suffering from idiopathic scoliosis in relation to the method of treatment and the parameters of the def...
